Federal Election Donation Limit Changes
The FEC has released the changes for federal election gift limits for the 2013-2014 cycle for individual candidates and national party committees. The increased amount should not be a surprise to anyone as the FEC typically increases the limit by $100 per cycle. The FEC claims that these are "inflationary adjustments," but I wonder if anyone has every compared the limit changes to the actual inflation rate. Here is a breakdown of how much your campaign may accept:
- $2,600 per election from individuals ($5,200 total for Primary and General)
- $2,600 per election from partnerships and LLCs ($5,200 total for Primary and General)
- $5,000 per election cycle from qualified multicandidate PACs ($10,000 total for Primary and General)
- $2,600 per election cycle from non-multicandidate PACs ($5,200 total for Primary and General)
- $2,000 per election cycle from an authorized campaign committee ($4,000 total for Primary and General)
- $1,000 per calendar year from non-federal committees*
*non-federal committees may only give a total of $1,000 to all federal committees combined. For national committees (RNC, NRSC & NRCC) donors can give $32,400 per calendar year.Overall, an individual can now give up to $123,200 in political donations over the 2-year cycle with maximums of:
- $48,600 to candidates (18 max-out gifts)
- $74,600 to all PACs and parties
Our friends at the RNC and NRSC can give up to $45,400 to individual senatorial candidates. All contribution limit changes are being updated in Crimson to account for these changes. Make sure all of your fundraisers are aware of these new limits!Happy Fundraising!
