Founder & President
John Simms is the founder and President of CMDI. Supported by a talented development team, John designed and created Crimson, a fundraising CRM and Federal Election Commission compliance software serving Republican political committees and campaigns, including the Republican National Committee and four Republican Presidential nominees. Since 2012, Crimson, along with WidgetMakr, CMDI’s secure online payment product, and CrimsonRPM, a fundraising app for bundlers, have processed over $3 billion and more than 15 million gifts.
John is a principal in Gulfport Highlands Development, LLC, a post-Katrina mixed-use development near his hometown on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and a strategic investor in Audience Partners, an online ad firm with patented targeting capability. He also holds patents solving issues of convenience and security with the “last mile” of delivery of goods to the home.
John is a thirty-five year veteran of direct marketing communication and fundraising. He is also president and owner of Odell, Simms & Lynch, Inc. (OSL), a marketing company engaged in lead generation, fundraising, corporate sponsorship, and direct marketing for many important institutions and iconic projects receiving national attention, such as The Martin Luther Memorial, Pentagon Memorial, Trust for the National Mall, Gettysburg Visitor Center, Disabled Veterans Memorial, Heritage Foundation, World Meeting of Families, and seven presidential campaigns.
John is a graduate of the Emory University School of Law and holds a bachelor’s degree from Yale University where he was Speaker of the Yale Political Union and a Whiffenpoof. After college and law school he became immersed in politics as executive director of a state party committee and manager of a gubernatorial campaign in his home state of Mississippi. He is a member of the Mississippi, Georgia, District of Columbia, and American Bar Associations.
